Guildford Spectrum, Guildford
Our 2026 exhibition which will take place on Sunday July 12th, 2026 10am – 5pm, at “Guildford Spectrum Leisure Complex, Parkway, Guildford, Surrey GU1 1UP”. Tel: 01483 443322.
With close to 50 layouts and trader stands, we will be showing a range of gauges, including. 009, OO, N and G – some featuring Continental rail systems.
Our dedicated kid’s area will allow kids to have a hands-on play with trains and we will have layouts highlighting the latest in train control via phone and laptop.
New stock will be available from local model retailers, and our second-hand area will feature a track with N and OO gauge tracks to test locos before buying.
Ticket prices are £10 for an adult and free for children under 16 years old

| Savernake– an 8 year club project just completed based on the Berks and Hants Extension Railway operated by the GWR and the Midland and South Western Joint Railway. |
| Whitmoor– an N gauge layout depicting the market town of Whitmoor developed on the land owned by The Lord of Whitmoor Manor. |

| Test track – 0(48” rad),00/HO, TT120 and N gauge tracks used for testing locomotives bought from the Club trade stand. |
| Betchworth 009– 009 and 00 gauge recently started club layout depicting a quarry and working kiln Modular N gauge – a club layout featuring several members’ layouts joined into 1 large unit. |

Visiting Layouts
| Barton St David– A 1930s/40s GWR and S&DJR branch terminus based on the possibility that the village expanded to the extent of needing its own rail facilities. |
| Big-Day Halt – A mixture of 0-4-0 and 0-6-0 locos from different industrial and regional railways running a line form the James May Gin Distillery. |
| Cicely Bridge TMD – is a fictitious OO gauge layout based on a real place from the owners youth in the Blackburn area. |
| Colorado Springs – A G scale fun layout where kids can control a train |
| Cromwell Road Bridge – an O gauge 40ft+ end to end set in West London with DCC operation. |
| Edge Hill Cuttings – A MERG CBUS layout depicting the original 1830 Edge Hill station, of the Liverpool & Manchester Railway,.operated using locos including Rocket and Lion |
| Egdean– An O gauge winter scene layout with snow |
| Express Daisy Sidings – A layout that is both a model railway and a shunting Inglenook puzzle that moves wagons and tanks around the diary yard. |
| FallerStadt – A HO gauge layout set in Germany around year 2000. It depicts a non electrified line served by trains, trams and buses controlled by a MERG CBUS system. |
| Fence Houses NCB – is a busy national Coal Board (NCB) shed in the coalfield area of the industrial North East where NCB locos are serviced and repaired. |
| Funville – A layout with 2 main tracks and a racing car circuit.that can be operated by children. |
| Hillside Park-is an N gauge layout set in Britain during the mid-1960s at the end of steam and start of diesel with a diesel depot and steam shed. |
| Jubilee Lane – A 3mm scale 12mm gauge military line that operates automatically ferrying passengers from the Military base to a station on the national network |
| Kew Bridge– depicts an actual location to the north of the bridge in Brentford set between 1901 & 1935 when electric trams operated. Originally built in the London Museum of Water and Steam. |
| Llanfair Rhyd – depicts the upper terminus of a ‘Ffestiniog’ style narrow gauge railway in n Wales. The layout is compatible with Freem009 standards to join up with other layouts. |
| Lock Down Halt – features a canal lock, a rising hill or ‘down’ and a halt that can accommodate very short trains. |
| Lynton – A 009 layout based on the station of Lynton on the Lynton and Barnstable railway. Circa 1935 |
| Mwch Grumblyn– a 29’ x 19’ 16mm live steam layout operated by the local model engineering society (GMES) |
| North Bay – A small station set on a rural branch line with a dairy and goods yard. |
| North Quay – loosely based on the harbour at St. Helens on the Isle of Wight. The layout includes a lorry that drives around the site and a narrow gauge railway that feeds the gasworks (using a linear induction motor drive) |
| Santa Maria – The village of Santa Maria is connected to the Swiss rail network as a railhead to the Swiss National Park. Hom gauge |
| Small N Working – a range of working N gauge layouts in a variety of containers modelled in different materials from traditional scatter to Lego. |
| Somewhere in France – 4mm 009 layout showing aspects of the war involving the narrow-gauge railways operated by the Royal Engineers. |
| Southwick – An O gauge rural goods yard at the end of a quiet branch line designed around a traditional Inglenook shunting puzzle. |
| St Pankraz in Steiermark– is the terminus of a branch line in the Steiermark region of Austria. Featuring wood trains, tankers supplying heating oil and vans to a shed. |
| Staffordshire Potteries is an N Gauge realistic modular layout based upon the Gladstone Pottery Museum in Stoke-on-Trent. It features smoking bottle kilns and traction engine, plus a surface mine and funeral. |
| Verneuil-les-Vignes– is a fictional location set in SW France with a double track loop with a central small yard. |
| Whiteleaf Tramway– a 45’ long G scale tramway system featuring a mountain rack railway where trains are pushed up the gradient by specially equipped rack locos. Probably the tallest exhibition layout in the UK. |

Getting There
DIRECTIONS BY CAR
- From M25 London Orbital (allow 20 minutes)
- Exit the motorway at junction 10 (which is signposted as London S.W./Guildford/Kingston) and follow A3(S)
- Continue on the A3 for approximately 7 miles
- Leave the A3 at the A322 Guildford/Horsham/Bagshot/Aldershot exit
- At the end of the slip road turn left towards Guildford and immediately left onto A25 Parkway
- Continue on Parkway for half a mile and Guildford Spectrum is on the left.
BEWARE: Roadworks mean that the A3 is CLOSED Southbound through Guildford https://nationalhighways.co.uk/our-roads/south-east/a3-a322-dennis-roundabout-guildford-concrete-repairs – it should not impact access to the Spectrum, but traffic volume could be an impact.
The largest impact to visitors caused by the closure will be when visitors leave, heading Southbound on the A3 – visitors will need to turn RIGHT out of the Spectrum and head along Ladymead, continue past the retail park (on the right) and join the A3 at the Dennis roundabout
From A3 Northbound & Portsmouth
- Follow the A3 until the Guildford (A322) exit. At the roundabout take the 2nd exit (A25)
- Remain on the A25 for approximately 1 mile
- At Stoke Junction (by Barker and Stonehouse shop) continue straight onto A25 Parkway and follow for half a mile. Guildford Spectrum is on the left.
- From Dorking (allow 30 minutes)
- Follow the A25 towards Guildford
- Just after Newlands Corner turn left signposted to Guildford
- Turn left at the next roundabout and continue to the junction of Epsom Road and Boxgrove Road
- Turn right at the traffic lights to remain on the A25 – Boxgrove Road
- At the roundabout take the 2nd exit and Guildford Spectrum is approximately 300 yards on the right-hand side.
DIRECTIONS BY TRAIN
- Guildford Spectrum is no longer served by a direct bus service. From the main Guildford bus station, 715, 462, 18, 6 will stop on London Road, the Southern side of Stoke park and Spectrum is a short walk across the park.
- Taxi – Guildford Spectrum is approximately 2 miles from Guildford station, 10 minute drive and should cost around £10
PARKING
- There are 1000 free spaces on the site plus designated coach parking
- There are designated Parent & Toddler parking bays to the right of the entrance ramp with easy access to the main entrance
- Disabled spaces are available at the front of the building and also adjacent to the disabled entrance which is to the right of the entrance ramp.
